Support The Flood Victims

Bangladesh is particularly susceptible to floods since it is located on the Brahmaputra River Delta, commonly known as the Ganges Delta. Bangladesh suffers from the cumulative effects of floods due to water flashing from nearby hills, the accumulation of the inflow of water from upstream catchments, and locally heavy rainfall enhanced by drainage congestion because it is located in such a basin and is less than 5 metres above mean sea level. This issue arises in Bangladesh every yearly. In Bangladesh, frequent coastal flooding and riverbank bursts have a negative impact on both the country’s environment and society.
Bangladesh has a large sea coastline and 80% of it is a floodplain, making it extremely vulnerable to frequent broad damage. While more durable barriers made of reinforced concrete are being constructed, many embankments constructed by local farmers are only made of dirt and turf. Flooding typically happens from June through September, during the monsoon season. Relief rainfall brought on by the Himalayas is added to the convectional rainfall of the monsoon. Himalayan meltwater is another important component.

GFI’s response to the flood victims support project:

1. Monetary Donations: Financial contributions are crucial to providing the victims with immediate essentials such as shelter, clean water, food, and medical assistance.

2. Donations of Essential Supplies: Non-perishable food items, drinking water, blankets, hygiene products, and first-aid kits are in high demand.

3. Volunteer Services: If you or your organization can spare the time and skills, volunteers are needed to assist in relief operations, such as distributing supplies and providing emotional support to affected individuals.

4. Fundraising and Awareness: Host or participate in fundraising events, share information about the situation on social media platforms, and encourage others to donate or get involved.
